After ten years of working for many other floor covering businesses, it seemed like the next best step in my career to go into business for myself so that I could provide the best value for every dollar for my customers.
Testimonials
Service: Hardwood Flooring Install;
“They would let us know about everything they were doing, and they even let me in and check. They set it up for me in picture frames to see what it would like before they even did it, which was really nice. The stuff that they used was a little too smelly, and it was problematic for me because I am an asthmatic. Their price was good. They had questions for me and they came right away and asked me.
Description of Work: They pulled out the old supple wood and replaced the hardwood floor for us. They had to pull the floor up and let the sub floor dry because we had a dishwasher. We also had them take out our existing tile floor and run the rest of it through the family room.” George F. July 2009
“Can’t say enough about my experience with Marty and his company. Professional, competitive pricing, quality work. I got three bids from unknown people and I chose Schultz. What a great job they did. The employees were quality, the work was quality. I am more than happy with the result.” Teriderr February 19, 2016
“This was the best experience I had in my entire remodel. Truly.
A little background: The house has been in my family since ’63 and my mom remembers it shiny and new. So when I undertook the remodel last year I was partially hoping to bring it up to date, make it my own, and please my mom too. So when she walked in and saw the floors and said that they were just like when it was new, I was really happy.
In the course of the remodel I’ve dealt with a bunch of different contractors, and done a bunch of the work myself. It’s probably a pain for contractors who have clients who are at least somewhat proficient at home repair. I recognize that virtually no contractor can achieve the kind of perfection that a homeowner really wants from an extensive job. And I sure met a bunch of folks who underwhelmed me. I’m not a guy to hand out kudos when they aren’t warranted or deserved. And that brings me to my floors.
These guys aren’t just contractors, they’re really artists. They have an attention to detail that blows me away. And they have years of experience so they know how the various abnormalities they find in your old floor will respond to the various stains and finishes. And once applied, it’s like a work of art.
The process started with Marty coming and taking measurements and looking at the project. He talks to you about what you want and then drives off with the promise of an estimate within a few days. And sure enough, right on schedule, there it was. The scope of my project wasn’t just sand and stain, I had a whole partial hallway that I created that needed to match the living room/dining room too. The price was really fair. Maybe not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive, and given the quality of work, I scored. On the first day the initial team arrived and took off doors and mouldings. They also created the new flooring too. The next day the sanding and staining crew arrived and started with a test patch so I could actually see and choose something I wanted. My space isn’t massive so they were able to sand and start the first coat on day two. And the only thing I would recommend is that generally they’ll sell you 3 coats of finish – which is just fine. But if you want to get a floor that will really last and last and last, talk to Marty right off the bat about a 4th coat or 5th for that matter. If you can afford it, it’s well worth it.
I can’t be more glowing in my praise for how my floors turned out. And perhaps next summer I’ll get to the wood floors on the other side of the house! Now that I know how easy and proficient they are, I won’t hesitate to call them again.” Sean E. October 3rd 2016
“WOW, these guys are good. We had kind of a rocky start because of power outages, but they more than made up for it. Our floors and molding look great. Trevor and Dustin were amazing, polite, and went the extra mile to finish the job. Highly recommend James Schultz Hardwood Flooring.” Jim D. Dec 17th 2015
“I was so very happy with this company. I got three quotes from different companies. I was very happy with the people that put the floor in and their expertise and knowledge, very happy with the price and extremely happy with the quality. I had to match the wood from other parts of my house and it looks flawless. Highly recommend them!” Teri D. April 3rd 2016
“We had our 20 year old Hardwood Floors refinished this week and today when we opened the door for the first time they looked awesome, my wife & I are very pleased. The team that was in our home was great to work with and very professional. We were only out of our home for 3days but it was well worth our time away and the expense was very reasonable.” John H.
